You Are What You Absorb

US government regulations for cosmetics were developed over forty years ago when scientists believed that lotions and other products applied topically didn't have a significant impact on the body.

At that time the skin was considered a protective barrier that prevented chemicals from entering the body.

Soap, shaving cream, sunscreen, skin care lotion, all contain known carcinogens which are readily and easily absorbed by your skin, the largest organ in your body.

Under current trends, an average of over 160 chemicals are absorbed through our skin every day from personal care products.

In the US, only one out of every 10 of the 10,000+ ingredients found in today's beauty products have been tested for safety and only 10 chemicals have been banned.

In the European Union however, over 1100 chemicals from their personal care products have been outlawed.

With The National Cancer Association reporting yearly that 1:2 men and 1:3 women are reporting some form of cancer, we have to ask ourselves very serious questions about how these harmful ingredients affect our health, the health of our children, and the planet.

How Bad Is It Really?

Thank you for a great post. I have been using safe products for almost 5 years and there is definitely a difference. There are not many companies that not keep out the toxins for the enviroment, but also for us.
